Whether you’re a returning ENCorps member or a new attendee joining us for the first time this year, we want
to invite you to the 2012 Encore Leadership Corps Summit. This year we return to Point Lookout in Northport to learn, share, and network with one another. The 2012 Summit promises to deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum meant to support you, the volunteer, and the important community work you are doing.
Some of the key highlights of this year’s program include:
- Renowned international expert on walkability, Dan Burden, will talk about practical strategies for building walkable and livable communities for residents of all ages.
- Linda Silka from the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center, will talk about unique partnerships and what it takes to work well with others who may have seemingly different interests from our own.
- Nancy Smith from GrowSmart Maine, will give an update on smart growth activities in our state.
- Unique opportunities for off-site learning and engagement through carefully selected educational tours and sessions in the Northport area, such as a downtown tour of historic preservation efforts in Belfast or hiking through a local land trust.
- The opportunity to share your projects and troubleshoot common challenges with others during a series of engaging workshops designed to help you build skills that will support your volunteer work.
All of the 2012 Summit programming is made possible because of our generous funders including Atlantic Philanthropies and our partners at the Maine Community Foundation. We would also like to thank our Summit exhibitors for providing information, resources and additional opportunities for ENCorps volunteer work in the community. In addition, ENCorps members are invited to share details about their projects with attendees through exhibits set aside for this very purpose.
